2 Minutes to Make a Difference – A Personal Request from Doug
I just need 2 minutes of your time. If you are a loyal reader of my blog, you know I typically write about topics that make a difference in the lives of couples and their families. This week I need to take a slight detour and ask your help on something. It is an opportunity to make a difference. And yes, it will still only require 2 minutes of your time.
You may not know this, but a 1/3 of the homeless on our streets are Veterans. In fact, many of these Veterans have families but are unable to support them. My nonprofit organization, Centurion’s Watch, is on the front lines helping military families live better lives. We just created the “Help Military Families Thrive” campaign, in partnership with Custom Ink and the Homeless Veterans Assistance Foundation to help get struggling Veterans get back on their feet. When the Live A Life Worth Living brand was created after I returned from Iraq, we wanted to inspire people to take action on the important things in life. We also wanted to give back. One way to do that is is to use the sales of our apparel to help fund partner organizations who are making a positive impact in the lives of our nations Veterans and their families. The Homeless Veterans Assistance Foundation (HVAF) is one such partner organization. They have employment specialists who provide education and/or training to help Veterans overcome barriers to obtain gainful employment.
